Our original plan was to visit Paris after London HOWEVER there was a huge strike in France and all transit was shut down so we detoured and took a flight from London to Rome...
T and I do not speak Italian at all which we learned fast how to communicate to the taxi driver by writing the hotel name on address on a piece of paper in VERY large print - Worked like a charm as he nodded and off we went...
As we weaved in and out of traffic in this mini car driving in super narrow alleys almost hitting tourist upon tourist he suddenly stopped the car next to an ally with graffiti on the wall and got out and started unloading our bags...
Being close to midnight I was starting to get a bit concerned but then saw an awning at the end of the ally with our hotel name...
We paid the driver and took our bags to check in...
The receptionist spoke pretty good English as he reached for our key locked up the office and lead us back into the ally where he showed us our room through this door...
Then down a hallway to another door to unlock to steep stairs leading to private garden then to our hotel room door...
It was so quaint and very much like what they try to emulate in the US from the vines climbing up the walls to the stucco chipping off the building exposing the brick...
Our hotel was less than a block for Trevi Fountain being centralized in the city we walked everywhere...
Rome has so much to see so we saw the top sites...

***We learned another valuable lesson - Do NOT eat at restaurants right out side of tourist attractions... The servers speak perfect English to get you to sit but when it comes to ordering they seem misunderstand your order adding more to your bill than expected :) - HOWEVER the ambiance was pretty amazing!***

Which made it much easier for us!***

It was phenomenal being able to see the architecture I grew up studying about...
The food in Rome was fantastic...
***And I loved how they would have their restaurants disguised the best they could in the middle of the street surrounded by vehicles - classic Rome***
From the hot chocolate in the morning...
To the gelato in the afternoon...
Rome is filled with incredable food but beware - That oh so gooey cheesy pizza just might not be cheese but globs of MAYO...EWWW still traumatized about that one...
I am grateful they spend such a great deal of time and labor preserving history here because it was incredible to walk in places that have been around since the beginning of...
Roman Civilizaion!
